Twitter Friendly Links: Custom Short URLs for WordPress Blogs

Twitter Friendly Links is an excellent WordPress plugin that creates tiny URLs for your blog posts that contain your own domain name for branding. For example, the permalink URL for this post is http://www.hughbriss.com/custom-twitter-friendly-short-links-for-wordpress-blogs but with the Twitter Friendly Links plugin the URL is shortened to http://hughbriss.com/460. That’s way better for branding than http://bit.ly/ihbbm.

After you install the plugin a new box is added to the sidebar when you’re logged in to your WordPress admin section called, “Twitter Stuff”. Once you publish your blog post the new short URL will appear in that box along with a handy pre-written tweet with the title of your post and the new short URL. Simply click “Tweet this” in the box and you can tweet about your post without even leaving WordPress.
