How many times have you found yourself wishing you could tweet about something on Twitter but can’t because you’re driving or just don’t feel like texting a 140 character message from your cell phone? No problem, just phone it in.
Recently a few services that allow you to post directly to Twitter by talking your tweet have popped up, including Vlingo (Blackberry and iPhone only) and TwitterFone. Once you register with the service you’re provided with a unique phone number to call. Simply call the number and speak your tweet and the service automatically transcribes your voice message into text and posts it to Twitter for you. One drawback is that you have no way of knowing when you’ve reached your 140 character limit so it’s best to keep your message short and tweet.
I haven’t tried Vlingo because I don’t have a Blackerry or iPhone but I have used TwitterFone a few times and it worked flawlessly each time. You’ll need to speak clearly and make sure there isn’t a lot of background noise for best results though. I’ve got a feeling that strong accents will cause a problem, so this probably won’t work too well for Borat.
